You're Depressed, Aren't You!

- About: I'm a 24 year old college student studying creative writing at the University of Iowa. I have dealt with several serious bouts of depression since the summer I turned 17. I sincerely dislike the stigma that surrounds depression and the contorted image of people affected by it. More than anything though I hate the ignorance and naivety that envelop this disorder; all the crazy stereotypes about depression that I have heard over the years sound as ridiculous as an encounter with the Loch Ness Monster. I decided to start this blog to open up a forum to contradict the myth of depression with a first hand experience of it.

- Interests: writing poetry, reading, listening to a bizarre music collection, traveling, drinking anything with caffeine, the sky, French history, languages, impressionist art, bright purple nail polish, old records and lps, Marilyn Monroe, black and white films, cigarettes/cigars, white wine, journaling, laughing, sleeping in, being outside, swimming, the ocean, photography, good conversation
- Expertise: I have an associates degree but that's about it. I am slowly jumping my way through the hoops of academia and B.A. degree credits.
